WELCOME TO THE RIVERBEND ARTS COUNCIL

The council was formed February 20, 1989, around a kitchen table when seven Middleport
residents met to discuss the needs for such an organization. After a year of planning, the idea was
presented to the Middleport Village Council. With its assistance, the council was formally
organized in 1990. After five years the council grew and became the Riverbend Arts Council, an
incorporated nonprofit organization. Through the years we have occupied several historic
buildings and today our facility is in the former Temple Theater on the first floor of the
Middleport Masonic Temple. Some of our accomplishments over the years include bringing art
programs into public schools, sponsoring local talent shows, adopting the Community Band into
the Council, and our annual Arts in the Village event showcasing and encouraging local artists.
As well as presenting many instructional programs on subjects such as Photography, Cooking,
Gardening, Journaling and Poetry.
